The area of Playa Matapalo Costa Rica offers many things to do. Many guests of B&B Jardín de los Monos go to well-known attractions as Manuel Antonio National Park, Marino Ballena National Park and the Corcovado National Park. You can also go on some active adventure tours as River Rafting, Kayaking, Zip-lining, ATV-tours etc. The area is also famous for its waterfalls, the Nauyaca waterfalls are the biggest and most impressive in the area. But there are alternatives to these well-known tours.
We can help you with some activities that you will probably not find in your guidebook; off the beaten track trips that costs almost nothing, like the Dos Bocas waterfall near Hatillo. Just a 20 minutes’ drive from Playa Matapalo you need to take a short but nice hike alongside – and sometimes through – a river, that leads you to the waterfall. This hike is not for everybody, it can be slippery and some parts are quite steep; but most people can do it. After a few minutes hiking you will see the wonderful Dos Bocas waterfall surrounded by tropical rainforest (as shown in the video below). You can have a refreshing swim in the natural pool at the bottom of the waterfall. The natural setting with the falling water makes it peaceful and relax place. It is very rare to see other people here.
Additionally, you can combine this trip with a visit to the local hot springs a little further down the road. Besides the hot springs, you can also swim in the river below which has some amazing natural swimming pools. No need to book or reserve anything, just let us know when you are here.
